Having children is an important life experience for many women.  That's why we do all we can to involve and inform the family throughout a pregnancy.  We perform regular exams to help ensure the safety and well-being of both mother and child.  Sonograms are performed in the comfort and convenience of our office so that any questions the family may have can be addressed immediately.

Birthing Choices & Hospital Privileges

At the Women's Center for Health, we believe in comfort, which translates into flexibility and doing what's best for a woman and her baby.  From natural births to pain management, to choosing whether a physician or certified midwife delivers your baby, we provide the opportunities and encouragement to create a memorable birthing experience that will be treasured for a lifetime.  A unique birth plan is created based on each woman's preferences and requirements and outlines the physician and delivery choice, directions for anesthesia if desired, and general delivery room instructions.  This birth plan also includes the choice of hospital - whether it's Pekin Hospital or OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  The Women's Center for Health can also accommodate high-risk pregnancies at both hospitals with the assistance of OSF Saint Francis' neonatologists.

Our Certified Nurse Midwife offers special training which enables them to act as primary care providers.  As part of our team, our Certified Nurse Midwife offers patients security in knowing that, if problems arise that may create risks in a woman's pregnancy, she can seek the consultation of our physicians to ensure the highest level of safety.  Our advance practice nurses also provide well-woman gynecological care, including breast exams, Pap smears and family planning.

Breast-feeding Consultation

Delivering a baby is only the beginning of a healthy, happy mother/child experience.  Once the baby is born, our Lactation Consultant, who is certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultants, is available to help women to breast-feed their babies.  Their assistance helps make a more comfortable, pleasureable experience that results in better bonding between mother and child.  These consultations can be made by phone or at home.  We also offer breast pumps and accessories for purchase or rental.
